If you’re visiting Gulf Shores this year, you may be thinking about taking advantage of the opportunity to go fishing for sharks.  The local fishing experts at Class Act Charters can help make that happen.  Our captains have decades of experience in fishing these waters and know all the best places to go, as well as exactly how to target specific species, including sharks.  As any seasoned angler will tell you, there are no guarantees with fishing, but we’ll do our very best to get you in the right place at the right time to catch the fish you want!

When Should You Go Shark Fishing in Gulf Shores?

When it comes to sharks—like most fish—they’re generally more active when the water is warmer.  That means that the best time to hook a shark is during the warmer months.  However, on the Alabama Gulf Coast, our waters stay warm longer than you might expect.  While peak fishing season for sharks is usually around August, the Gulf of Mexico can be plenty warm enough to keep sharks happy and on the move through October and even later in the year.

Here are a couple of potential benefits to charter fishing a little later in the season:

Fishing after peak charter fishing season means there’s less competition for the fish.  School is starting, summer is winding down, and fewer people are on vacation along our beaches.  As the demand for charter fishing tapers down, there are fewer other anglers out there going after “your” shark!

As gorgeous as the Gulf Coast is, we’ll be the first to admit that it can get really, really hot and muggy in the summer.  Fortunately, our autumn season brings much-needed relief from the heat and humidity.  If you’re lucky enough to be in Gulf Shores in late September or October, you may be seeing the region at its most enjoyable, weather-wise.  There’s no better time to get outdoors and do some fishing!
